Membership
There are two types of membership in the Canadian Philosophical Association: ordinary and student. Every new or renewed annual membership entitles the member to receive Dialogue, the Association's quarterly publication, for one year.
Ordinary Membership
Ordinary members hold a degree in philosophy, or the equivalent, or are or have been a teacher of philosophy at an institute of higher learning (this includes high schools). Full fees apply to ordinary members with full-time employment. For joint members (two members of the same family), the calculation is based on combined salaries. A reduced fee is available for those who work part-time, are unemployed or retired. The ‘associate member' category (individuals interested in the objectives of the Association but outside the other categories) has been removed; those members are now considered ‘ordinary members'.
| Ordinary Membership | Individual Fee | Joint Fee |
| Income < 50K | $100 per year | $120 per year |
| Income = 50-75K | $122 per year | $142 per year |
| Income > 75K | $140 per year | $160 per year |
| Reduced fee | $75 per year | n/a |
Student Membership
Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a programme in philosophy. If you are paying your membership by mail or fax, students must send a copy of their student card, the membership form and payment to the CPA's main office.
| Student Membership | $45 per year |
