Third Buenos Aires Metaethics Workshop: Ethical Facts and Moral Objectivity
Aug. 9th to 13th, 2010
website: ceffa.org
The Centro de Estudios Filosóficos y Fenomenológicos Avanzados (Center for Advanced Studies in Philosophy and Phenomenology) invites submissions for short papers for the third edition of the yearly Buenos Aires Metaethics Workshop. This year the central theme shall be Ethical Facts and Moral Objectivity. The invitation is open to philosophers approaching the topic from all fields and traditions.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide a laboratory for the development and articulation of new directions in metaethics as well as a space for people from different traditions and areas to discuss common issues.
While the topic of this seminar will be ethical facts and moral objectivity, we encourage prospective participants to submit presentations approaching the topic from domains other than ethics.
Rather than read, participants will give presentations of the arguments and position in a colloquial manner so as to facilitate discussion. The seminar will consist of two daily sessions of 1 presentation each of no more than 20 minutes giving ample time for discussion. The seminar will be conducted in English (Spanish translation will be offered per request).
Submission: Abstracts must not exceed 400 words and must be submitted in electronic form to john.mcguire@hofstra.edu before the 15th of March, 2010.
Contact Information: john.mcguire@hofstra.edu.
Deadline for Submission: 3/15/2010
