Brila's Immersive philosophy camps for youth of all ages - Summer 2024 Lanaudière, QC

Brila, a Canadian registered charity specializing in educative experiences in creativity and philosophical reflection for youth of all ages, is offering philosophy overnight camps near Montreal, this summer!

From the children’s perspective: They will live our camp experience like an imaginative immersion where all their ideas and creative outbursts will be welcomed and mobilized via unique and playful activities in the wilderness, ranging from drawing and photography to writing, theatre and multimedia. No previous experience necessary!

  • Set in our beautiful outdoor space by our lake and enchanted forest (just one hour North of Montreal in Lanaudière!), our overnight camp invites participants to exchange and express themselves on important themes that fascinate them—from the environment and innovation to justice—in order to re-envision the world.
  • Beyond learning to think and make outside the box, participants happily live together in our eco-lodgings, all the while getting to enjoy the great outdoors with activities ranging from swimming, kayaking and team sports to forest hikes, campfires and stargazing!

From the parents’ perspective: They will be reassured to know that these quirky camps are educational, even if the children experience them as a game! The program is distinguished by its facilitation team who are experts in education and mental health (with doctorates and over 60 years' combined experience) and its guests who are specialists in their field. Using pedagogical approaches recognised by UNESCO for peace education, the team knows how to create an atmosphere that is as fun as it is caring, cultivating critical thinking, social responsibility and self-efficacy in complete safety, while forging bonds of friendship between young people and with nature.

  • Options vary from the discovery camp for younger kids (ages 7 and 8) to our leadership camp for teens!
  • The camp is offered in English and in French to participants from all over Canada, in collaboration with the University of Montreal and Concordia University.
