Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full time Assistant Professor with the Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Science. The successful candidate will be productively engaged in research in ethics, broadly construed, that bears on issues related to human health and wellness.

The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Philosophy Department’s MA program, and the Certificate in Ethics, Justice and Law.  In addition, the position includes participation in administrative work commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor. 

The College of Arts and Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. We are seeking candidates who will have a completed doctoral degree in Philosophy at the time of appointment, specializing in ethics, broadly construed, that bears on issues related to human health and wellness.  The areas of competence are open, but the Department has teaching needs in early modern philosophy and is particularly interested in candidates who can teach a wide range of courses in value theory. 

We are looking for a colleague who will pursue a vigorous program of research, and also contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the Department.  We welcome linkages to current areas of research strength within the Department.  Candidates demonstrating a capacity for excellence in teaching will be preferred.  Evidence that the candidate will constructively participate in the Department’s community outreach activities will be considered an asset.

The salary band for the 2025-2026 academic year is: Assistant Professor $110,489-$131,909
