Medicine Hat College’s School of Arts, Science and Education invites applications for a full-time temporary Instructor in Philosophy for the 2024-2025 academic year, commencing July 1, 2024. This is a Full-time position and subject to successful completion of a two-year probationary period, the position will be a continuous appointment.

We are seeking someone with a research concentration or interest in scientifically-minded philosophy to teach Philosophy courses, including Bioethics, and GNED 210 (Mathematical and Scientific Literacy). Future workload may include academic writing courses, so any previous experience in writing instruction will be considered an asset as well. This position requires a passion and commitment to learners, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work within the Humanities and Social Sciences faculty, and an interest in academic research and scholarship.

As a successful applicant you'll have:

• PhD in Philosophy required;

• Experience teaching, graduate studies, and/or research background in scientifically-minded philosophy required;

• Relevant post-secondary teaching experience will be considered an asset;

• Previous scholarship and research experience will be considered an asset;

• Previous experience teaching writing may be considered an asset;

• Willingness to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that focuses on student success; and
