Call for Submissions: The 2025 Canadian Philosophical Association Book Prize
Books represent a crucial medium for communicating philosophical research and often mark the culmination of significant scholarly investigation. The Canadian philosophical community contributes high-quality research in both English and French, earning international recognition and demonstrating the remarkable vitality of philosophical inquiry in Canada.
To better recognize and promote these contributions, the Canadian Philosophical Association has established a triennial book prize.
Prize Details
The Canadian Philosophical Association awards up to three prizes annually for outstanding books in philosophy published by Association members. Prize amounts are determined by available funding.
Eligibility Requirements
Qualifying Books

Must make a significant contribution to philosophical research

Must be published in English or French between 1 October 2021 and 1 October 2025

Both print and digital editions are accepted (digital editions preferred)
Excluded Publications

Textbooks
-
Multi-author collections
-
Conference proceedings
-
Translations (except critical editions)
The Selection Committee has final authority on eligibility questions.
Author Requirements

Must be a Canadian Philosophical Association member for 2025

Membership must be current by the 15 October 2025 deadline

New memberships and renewals for 2026 begin 1 October 2025
