Event Details
Applying for a SSHRC Insight grant can be a major undertaking, and the success of an application depends upon a number of factors beyond the mere promise of the research involved, including for instance, the total number of applications in any given year and the funding allocated to SSHRC in the federal budget. This workshop aims to brush a picture of the conditions that can make for the success of an application from the perspective of those directly involved in the administration, advocacy and adjudication for the various programs. The discussion will be led by the chair of the last SSHRC Philosophy Insight Grant evaluation committee, an Observer for the Insight Grant program, as well as representatives from SSHRC and the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. They will be available to answer informal questions that can help better understand philosopher’s success in the competitions, the aims of the programs as well as the current state of funding for the Social Sciences and Humanities.
