The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto (Faculty of Arts and Science at the St. George campus) and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invite applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the area of Logic. The successful candidate will be appointed to both Departments of Philosophy (57% to the St. George campus; 43% to UTM).  The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an expected start date of July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths: http://www.philosophy.utoronto.ca and http://www.philosophy.utoronto.ca/utm. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree-granting program at both the undergraduate and graduate program levels, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices, a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities, and a demonstration of innovative approaches to course delivery in Logic and other areas of philosophy.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

The successful candidate must be able to teach a wide range of courses in philosophy from the introductory to advanced levels at the undergraduate level, focusing on Logic.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
